<p> DIED. C. Northcote Parkinson, 83, British historian, satirist
and author; in Canterbury, England. In a 1955 Economist
article, Parkinson first unveiled his droll theorem of
bureaucratic behavior: "Work expands so as to fill the time
available for its completion." Parkinson's Law grew into a
best-selling book--one of 60 he wrote over a lifetime--and
a musical with typewriters playing the overture.
